Thanksgiving 2011
Luke and I spent our traditional Thanksgiving morning bodysurfing at Kua Bay. There were some very fun north swell sets making it a good time to be in the sea with my son. After getting home and trying fruitlessly to shower the sand out of our hair and ears, we set about making the Thanksgiving feast. It is down to three of us this year, Luke, Kailana and I. Next year I expect with Kai and Lei in college it will be Luke and I. Not that long ago Thanksgiving dinner at our house meant Chikako and I, our three kids, my mom and dad and any number of additional people who would show up for my dads wonderful turkey and pastries. Times do change.
This year Kai made a Granny apple pie and two pumpkin breads. Luke made his signature garlic mashed potatoes (recipe stolen from uncle Curt Fairchild), honey glazed ham and creamed onions. I was responsible for the Cider glazed turkey, dressing, gravy and rolls. Enough food to last us the weekend without me having to cook again till Monday!
The Powers clan wishes you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
