A Powers Halloween 2012

Every fall for the past 14 years or so I have transformed our front yard into a path of ghouls and goblins for the annual Halloween scarefest. It started as a rocking chair with a cheap stuffed wicked witch sitting on the front lanai to scare the little ones who ventured up the steps.

Now it takes a full three days to set up and a whole day to break down and put away all the stuff needed to spook the tikes. Every year I find that after all the hot long hours of setting everything up I hardly ever remember to take any good photos. The same thing this year. Just before people began to arrive and the smoke machines would obscure all in a scary haze I ran around and grabbed a hand full of quick photos. I really need someone to remind me next year to hide out inside and get some shots of the little kids getting the crap scared out of 'em!

My front yard as it looked on Monday morning before the work begins.

And here is how it looked just before the sun went down on Halloween this last Wednesday.

The Wicked Witch still sits in the rocker on the front lanai but is now surrounded by friends

Here is the front view showing the Skull Gate you must pass to enter

After dark when people begin arriving there are smoke machines bealching fog, speakers blaring the sound of barking dogs, howling wolves, monsters moaning and lights flashing all about! It is really quite scary and disorienting, but does not translate well to photo because of the fog.

Here you see the three scariest costumes of the night, have you ever seen such ugly, shiftless, layabout bum costumes? Truly frightening!
A bunch of Luke's buddies came over to help scare the little kiddies out of their shorts, here they are on a pizza break between sessions.

Happy Halloween to all and to all a good night!
